Take action to save the Blue-throated Hillstar!
We continue our efforts to protect the Blue-throated Hillstar! The recently discovered hummingbird (Oreotrochilus cyanolaemus) is Critically Endangered with a scarce population of only 150-400 individuals.

We continue our efforts to protect the Blue-throated Hillstar! The recently discovered hummingbird(Oreotrochilus cyanolaemus), by our board member Francisco Sornoza, is Critically Endangered with a scarce population of only 150-400 individuals.
Our main goal is to establish the first reserve in Cerro de Arcos, a key area for the species. We have already raised 125.700$, and with your help we can reach our goal of 500.000$.
The Blue-throated Hillstar lives in the paramos and feeds mainly on Chuquiraga jussieu (native plant of Ecuador, Colombia, and Peru), which are increasingly threatened by cattle and large-scale pine plantations.

Help us to save the Blue-throated Hillstar - so we jointly become leaders in conservation!

How can you help?

500$= 1 acre
100$= artificial nesting sites
10-50$= fence off sensitive areas
