The impact of Covid-19 around the world has been profound, especially for nature. Protecting natural areas and conserving wildlife has become more challenging. The park rangers and workers in our reserves had to redouble their efforts during this crisis. Many species of plants and animals directly depend on their protection.
Our #ConservationHeroes are more than 30 community members who live in different corners of Ecuador and have become park rangers and/or workers at our Jocotoco reserves. Together they protect approximately 58,070 acres in a network of 16 different natural areas. Due to the crisis, protecting these reserves from logging and hunting has become much more difficult.
Park rangers and field workers are the most direct connection between our nature reserves and the surrounding communities. They help local people to better understand the importance of nature and biodiversity, a key aspect of conservation. They are committed with their mission, but now they need your help to continue their daily activities, which include patrolling the reserves, maintaining trails and bird feeders, carrying out reforestation activities, assisting research projects and monitoring birds and other wildlife.
By donating, you will directly benefit the warriors that protect the natural areas of critical importance for the conservation of endemic and threatened species of fauna and flora in Ecuador.
