PATRICIO MENA

Biólogo de Campo

Patricio is an eleven-year experienced biologist who got his Masters Degree in Ecology due to his wide interest in many aspects of nature, from the organisms to the ecosystems, in order to know how this complex network works. He has worked not only with long-term bird banding projects but also with focal bird species conservation projects in tropical environments of Ecuador such as the Chocó Region and the Amazon Region. Part of his work has also been focused on contamination and deforestation; especially developing monitoring programs to repair habitats from anthropogenic degradation activities. His main goal is to create conservation strategies from identifying actual and potential threats based on scientific data.

Patricios favorite bird is the Green Manakin; species that he had the opportunity to study in the Chocó Forest. From this, he learned that incredible things could be hidden inside inconspicuous creatures.
